My Experience with a Brother who Embraced a new Faith

For my money, I do not think any religion is superior to the other; I believe every religion should co-exist peacefully devoid of hate and sentiments. So, if practicing your religion does not harm me, no yawa, no gbese. In fact, I get curious to know more about it so I can refer to my knowledge of your faith when I'm in a chat with someone. I remember my mum telling me about a certain woman that committed a taboo by getting married to her cousin. To her, and some others, it should be unheard of. She was shocked when I told her it was acceptable in Islam. My sister had even suggested two of our cousins (Afam and Uju) we would have gotten married to if it was applicable in our case. Lol.

So, I met an old church brother from way back in the block rosary crusade some weeks ago. He is a Keke driver, and once in a while, I'll bump into him (one of the few most uncomfortable minutes of my life). It's been years since we talked, and so the first time we met this year, he immediately asked if I still attend Catholic church (the church we both attended in antiquity). Questions like that make me uncomfortable sha, but I had to do justice to it as my strength can carry. He started a long sermon with how God has opened his eyes to see the light. Ehe? Gwam Gwam Gwam! Yudonminit! If I want to do amebo, I surely know where to get the gist as e dey hot.

Exactly how my tired mind felt!

As a patient girl, I still kept mute o. Then he said the Catholic church was this that this that that that. It was a long sermon of how blind we are in the Catholic church. Down to his new church, he began with how holiness is their watchword. In fact, the church dissects the Bible and brings out the intestine for the congregation to see for themselves. I can't remember the name of the church, but it was a long stretch of words that had a touch of 'holiness and revival' in it.

The Keke was taking so long to get full, and the longer it took, the longer the sermon dragged on. I was tired and hungry from work but... I still have to be a good girl. Mehn! The Keke was finally full, and a young girl sat on my right. I was committed to starting a discussion with her because I was tired of his gist. This lady beside me wore the five nights of glory tag on her chest, showing she was a member of Salvation ministries. I asked for the closest viewing centre for me because I was interested. She cleared me on that, and soon she alighted.

Surprisingly, he was mute while I talked to the girl about the church programme but began another sermon soon after she alighted. This time it was 'if you know you want to make heaven, don't step your foot in that church.' 😂😂😂 Inukwa holy ghost filled brother 😧 I don't know what he must have 'researched' or what God had 'revealed' to him o but he should have said it to the girl's face. That would have convinced me the more.

I finally got to my destination and I didn't expect that he would tell me to forget about paying. He jejely took his money and zoomed off. Then i realized that even if you want to make heaven, you need money too.

This thing called religion is complicated. Every sect lays claim to the absolute truth, but???

I don't know.
