LATEST LOCKDOWN TRENDS IN NIGERIA
I quit my job on the 1st of March, 2020. I knew I was going to be a homebody for a while, but what I didn't know was for how long. Some days passed, and I was grateful I quit. I even had a weight gain plan (please don't ask how farπ€¦) so that I can be electrified to start another job. I was grooving for like two weeks, then boom! Coronavirus became serious. Before I knew it, my family and yard people joined me to stay at home all day. What can the Lord not do? At least I didn't have to explain why I stopped going to work. Shey, you people did not hear of the Coronavirus abi??
Should I say this lockdown has been a blessing in disguise? Gist for another day!
So, I noticed some trends that the lockdown help amplify, and I decided to share. You know about most or maybe all of them, but why am I here? To let you into my little mind ofcourse. Ngwanu let's get to it before someone sues me for making a lengthy post .
Tik Tok/Thriller
Funnily enough, the tik tok app was launched in 2016 but got the desired popularity in 2020, thanks to boredom! Raise your hands if you've not done a tik tok videoπ€. Well, I've not joined the trend yet, but do I have the application on my phone? Of course. I've not done tik tok because I'm still waiting for Mr. Right so we can do a flip challenge, bop daddy, don't rush, duduke and all the show me your man moves. I've had about two thriller moments, though, and I love the app too.
Netflix
In 2020 alone, Netflix has recorded a humongous 16 million new subscribers! Believe it or not, the appetite for movies has tripled in this period. I know someone who stays glued to Netflix almost the whole day and only goes on meal breaks three to four times in between. I'm not a fan of movies that's why the Netflix craze does not move me. And yea, I finally watched Living in Bondage πππ

Zoom
It appears I'm the only one who has not had meetings
or parties on this platform. Well and good, millions have used this platform
this period than never before. Zoom this, Skype that. In a bid to sub Skype,
someone said they had Skype had 17 years to prepare for quarantine, yet they
got beaten by zoom... ππWhat
does it matter really?

Working remotely
But eh, we know that we are not as developed as the West to imbibe
remote working entirely, but there are Nigerians who now work remotely. Some
say it is not as exciting as working in an office setting with your colleagues
around you, and I agree with them. For someone like me, who postpones her alarm
more than three times before I eventually get up, it takes God's grace to work remotely.
In any case, we'll pass this phase.

Daddy Odums!
I love to call him daddy Odums. How do you want it? Spiritually? Acrobatically? Grammatically? Physically? Scientifically? Which of the llys do you want? This man is a bucket full. I didn't pay attention to him initially, but it's almost impossible not to notice this Indabosky crooner. I love Daddy Odum's videos sha o. All the criticisms against this man of God are baseless. You know why? Well, I don't know too. All i know is that we cannot all be preaching love... Complete it biko. Which is your favourite Odumeje slang?

Online training
I think I'm the only one that has not organised a
WhatsApp trainingπ€.
I should consider it. I joined many of these groups, but I do not follow up
with most of the content for many reasons. No doubts, some of these training
are crucial, especially the ones that teach a tangible skill. And please, flee
from the acquire to inspire kind of groups because who go poor go poor likewise
who go rich. ighotago?
Video calls
In this era of social distancing and stay at home, we
still have to keep in touch, right? I used to cry about my data during video
calls, but now, I even initiate the calls. Have you made a video call during
this pandemic? You called your boyfriend/girlfriend abi? π This lockdown has
to be called off soon because I'm tired of video calls - I want the real deal.
Online courses
It is here you see the serious goons like meπ. Well, you may argue that online courses are expensive, but I tell you what? The prices are discounted this period. More persons have taken online courses this period than never before. It is not compulsory to take an online course, but I hear that there's life after the lockdown. I also understand that the competition for jobs would be stringent post-COVID-19. What else did I hear? π€

Self- Discovery
I wouldn't say I've discovered another facet of myself
this period, but many people have (maybe). Social media is currently awash with
posts like 'I'm beginning to discover the chef in me' 'i didn't even know I was
a good dancer' 'guess who designed this?' and yidi yidi yada yada. Everyone is trying
out something novel, and that's cool, but don't be pressured. I did something
new this period. No thanks, I won't share what that was, and it is not even
what you're thinking.

What trend have you got used to this period? Feel free to share in the comment section.
